I've pretty much always been a very neat and organised person. I simply cannot work in a messy space! Being a student who studies at home, manages an Etsy store and writes and basically lives at my desk, it's necessary for me to have an immaculately clear workspace. It's something that comes naturally to me, and to others it simply doesn't come as easily! As organising is something that I enjoy, I thought it would be fun to share with you 5 ways that I keep my workspaces neat and tidy.
C'mon - let's go tackle this!

You know all about this one! You hear it all the time. But ya ain't doin' it! So think about it - how many things do you own that you haven't touched for months? Really - think about it. Make a list in your head. You probably won't make a long list because you've forgotten about a lot of things that you own! If that's you - go through that box that you're trying to hide in the top back of your wardrobe. Go through it and clear out all of the things you'd forgotten that you even own. It will give you a clearer mind to own less stuff. Sort through your stationary and keep only the best pens and pencils that you use.

It's much easier to keep your room clear if you can't see what you're storing. No matter how neatly lined up my shelves are, it's easy for my room to feel cluttered because you can still see stuff. I feel much neater when things are neatly inside a set of drawers, so that not everything is in clear view.
If you have an open box of wires that you use all the time sitting on a shelf in clear view - it's going just look messy, and it will stress you out (it would stress me out big time :P), however if you have that box in a set of drawers just by your desk, it will be just as accessible but you won't be able to see it.
You don't necessarily need to just throw everything inside your drawers because you can't see it - don't think of this as an excuse. It's just a way to keep your space looking less cluttered, while keeping things accessible.

All you need is a few minutes! Put away your craft supplies, take your 13 mugs that have built up over time to the kitchen and take a cloth to wipe down the surfaces.

A great way to keep your area feeling neat is to keep your surfaces clear. Don't keep 5 jars of pencils on the desk if you're not reaching to use each and every pencil every day. Keep track of the things that you reach for most often - keep a note of it in your diary even, over the course of a few weeks - and put away the rest of your things into drawers. Keep only the essentials on your desktop.

There's nothing worse than having a massive pile of papers that keeps building up. You're going to have to tackle this - but we won't stop with clearing the papers. We'll organise them so that it's much easier to manage in the future.
Invest in a good filing system. You don't need a monstrous filing cabinet for this, simply a folder with sections. Label your sections (such as Pay Slips, Bank Statements, School Grades etc) and have a few. Keep one for your homework (a section for homework to finish, and a section for finished homework), one for your finance details and needs etc.

I hope this helps you to keep a clearer office! There's nothing worse than not having any room to work when you're studying or working from home. Let me know if there are any more posts you'd like me to do related to organisation and study/work from home,
God bless,
Charlie xx
